As we know, Windows 8 will be launched on 26th October on Friday, which coincides with Hari Raya Haji! I wish all Muslims an early Selamat Hari Raya Haji!
So what does Acer have to offer us during the launch next week in Singapore? Let’s find out!
Basically, this launch consists of three main product categories. The AIOs, Tablets & Notebooks/Ultrabooks. Acer will focus mainly on Windows 8 instead of Windows 8 RT in this release. With Windows 8 focusing more on User Experience and Interface now, we will be seeing more and more Touch Devices that will be springing out over the next few months.
First up, let us see what Ultrabooks are being offered.
Ultrabook – Acer Aspire S7
This is the latest Ultrabook offering from Acer. It has a refreshing look with its white exterior. Almost similar to an iPhone 5 or the HP Envy 14 design, it has its top and bottom covered with Glass . Glass? Oh my. What glass? It is the Corning Gorilla Glass 2! That is going to be one tough glass to scratch.
Another thing to note is that Aspire S7 comes with an Full HD IPS (1920×1080) screen squeezed onto this 13.3″ ultrabook. As you can see from the above picture, it seems to be rather bright. I wonder if it is good enough under the sun? But it sure looks gorgeous.
Mentioned earlier, Windows 8 is a touch-centric OS, thus, most of the notebooks/ultrabooks will be upgraded with touch screens. In this case, S7 is also equipped with a 10-point touch screen. You can definitely zoom in and out like the Aspire M5!
Connectivity and Ports
In regards to the connections available on the S7, it is basically the same 2 or 3 USB3.0 port, micro HDMI and SD Card Reader. Not too much of a difference from other Ultrabook.
Acer plays smart this time round by offering accessories bundled with the package. First off, you get a nice looking sleeve, matching the colour of the Ultrabook. Next, you get the same VGA adapter as well as USB to Ethernet adapter. Last but not least, a Bluetooth Mouse will be in as well. How good is that! It is definitely similar to Asus Zenbook Prime bundle and we are not complaining.
Is this the way Ultrabook is heading? I guess it probably is. A slim profile with its light weight will certainly allow productivity on the go. Now with touch screen, you can perhaps impress your clients by swiping either on the trackpad or the screen when demostrating! Maybe putting at 180 degrees wide open, you can even type on the screen.
Now, we probably got to wait for the price to be released for Singapore. Do check back on us next week should you want to purchase! Enjoy the pictures!
